Mr. Rexford Whiddon discusses his early life and his education, and states that music was always a part of his life. He relates the highlights of his career at Columbus College/Columbus State University and talks about the early history of the college music department. He discusses the mission of the college, the role of the community in the college's growth and development, and his relationship with the first three presidents.

Mr. Rexford Whiddon was born in Tifton, Ga. in 1944. His father was a minister and his mother a homemaker. He earned his Master of Music degree at Eastman School of Music and worked on his doctorate at Indiana University. His first teaching position was at a small Methodist school in Winfield, Kansas, Southwestern University.
